4 Revision Tips All University Students Should Know

Whether you’re still at school or studying a degree at university, it’s that time of year when exams are in the front of your mind. If you want to get the best grades possible then you’re going to need to do some revision, and you need to start as soon as possible.

Revision can be stressful at the best of times but don’t worry, with these 4 tips you will be well on your way to a successful exam period.

  1. Plan, plan, and plan again

This is extremely important because many students find themselves in a situation where they have left revision until the last minute and they simply don’t have enough time to get everything done. This inevitably leads to stressful cramming sessions, which is definitely something to avoid!

Find out when your exams are and decide how much revision they are going to need. For example, economics might take up a bit more of your time than other subjects.

It’s a good idea to get yourself organised with all the stationery and revision material that you will need as well.

  1. Decide where to work

Another crucial step is to find a good place to revise. Some people like to lock themselves in a quiet room free from distractions, whilst others prefer to work with a friend. The truth is that there is no right way to do it, so find out what works for you.

  1. Schedule your time

Time management is a skill that could make the difference between getting the grades you need and failing, it really is that important. You have heard it a thousand times but consider creating a revision timetable. However, it’s important to be realistic, there is no point scheduling in 18 hours of revision per day when you won’t do it. Break down your revision into manageable periods with rest breaks in between, these will make sure you are always working with a fresh mind.

  1. Reward yourself

Giving yourself rewards is an important part of revision and it will provide the incentive you need to do more. You could reward yourself with one night out per week, a gift package full of treats, or even just get a good nights sleep with some fresh sheets. Make sure you incorporate rewards into your revision otherwise you could find yourself lacking motivation.

Revision is not easy and it can be a real pain, but all the work you put in will be worth it when you achieve the grades you want so badly. If you still find yourself struggling with revision then don’t be afraid to contact your school or university for some advice, they will be happy to help.

It won’t be long until all your exams are over and you are free for the summer, so put in the work now and reap the rewards later!
